FIRST FOOTBALL GAME

My first game was at maine rd in 1977,against spurs & for a first game a 5-1 win was the best,brian kidd scored,peter barnes too,that was the end of the season & by the next year wed signed big dave watson+mick channon to help in our european campaign,we drew both games v widzew lodz of poland & went out on away goals,by then i had a kippax season ticket.it cost £ 6 !!

that was xmas/birthday pressy in one.now most kids expect these as normal !

The derby that year 1st game was at maine rd & i didnt have to queue to get a ticket,city won 3-1 united scorin a cracker from the halfway line,we beat liverpool 3-0 too,chelsea 6-2+in 1977 we were runners up a year after winnin the league cup-with 9 english men+2 scots+tony book,english manager.

That season i saw the best crowd i have EVER seen at a game,colin bells comeback game v newcastle,city won 4-0 & from 1pm to 5pm the fans sung colin the king constantly,a feat ive seen equalled by west ham fans at norwich once,jhonny lyles claret & blue army fer 90 mins,no breaks.Im pretty lucky that my 1st game was a dream game & ive been to many grounds in the uk but none felt as good as maine rd-now we have the best stadium in the world-the one used for the games in manchester,its now called eastlands,or coms(city of manchester stadium).

I was arguin with a fellow stream watcher about football,he said man city have the biggest squad in the prem,with 100 strikers!! preposterous-below is a list taken from aug 7th 2009

Arsenal have 30 players no number 13/15 or 33

aston villa+birmingham dont wish 2 share this info right now

blackburn have just 27

bolton have 26!

burnley have 32

chelsea have 28

everton have 26

then a few more who dont want us to know

liverpool have 54 players on the books available for 1st team football-16 are forwards

man city have 48(counted also are 9 players on loan so 39)

fulham hull man u stoke spurs+wigan havent published yet

west ham have 29

all the rest dont publish or havent yet(the supporters clubs do these are official prem lists)

man u have around 45 players on the books at any 1 time-seems the average is around 30,or 2 for most positions & some utility players+often 4 keepers,the junior usually on loan at lower league clubs

Man united won thiers,city lost most of thiers.BUT UNITED DIDNT PLAY ANY DECENT TEAMS!

At least arsenal had some opposition,the fact that united would take on a team called "pharmacutricals" (as part of thier chinese investment) then brag about thrashing them doesnt surprise us.Kaiser chiefs are actually a darn good team -id like to see man united beat them.

Most are a chance 2 try new players+ease them into the new season which usually goes off full pelt in england.City have spent over 100 million on players since the takeover & got very little in fees for sales.united spent nothing +have 80 mill in the bank from the sale of ronaldo.They do have 8 players under 23 in the 1st team squad too.should be fun !

My personal predictions are LIVERPOOL for the Prem title.

Having signed carlos tevez,adebyour,barry & toure,hughes is now after evertons promising defender lesscott.

Many scoff at the players brought in,but wouldnt any club seek to better itself? Unlike the man united fans(who are & have become incredibley arrogent recently)we dont see ourselves as world champs,far from it,we would love european football-WE MADE IT AS FAR AS ANY CLUB IN THE UEAFA CUP THIS YEAR-QUARTER FINALS! Given we havent seen tevez/santa cruz play yet many peoples scorn is more disguised as jealousy-after all madrid were also chasing carlos tevez(we knew 2 months ago wed get him-he enrolled his daughter in a school where a city players wife works-for a full term-not the action of a man goin 2 madrid)

Robinho-fer a "flop" as they all put it 15 goals in 1st season & the goal of the season against arsenal plus a miriad of sensational tricks,made him a lifelong love of the city fans.Yes he came for money & to get in the brazil squad.BUT HES STAYING BECAUSE HES GENUINELY LOVED+HES HAD A PROMISE MADE BY HUGHES FULFILLED-WELL GET A TEAM WORTHY OF YOU HE TOLD ROBINHO.Lets see what happens.........
