Sad news today that macolm allison,easily the biggest personality that has ever graced the game,passed away at the age of 83.His Fedora hat & cigar became trademarks of his playboy viewed existance,fast & furious the press labled him.He was very outspoken,but loved,Clough was outspokem,but did it with a rudeness that didnt warm people to him.Allison was honest,blatantly so & people respect honesty!
I added an old pic of malc,cloughie,derek dougan,big jack & brian moore-yasee kids in the days b4 satellite tv they used to have what they call soccer saturday & record it for the following week on "world of sport" u have to say that if the gillette soccer satdy was there then it would have been classic,imagine greaves,allison+clough all arguin rofl.
Bizzarely he was rarely sought after for the modern commentator & pundit duos that have such legendary partnerships as john motson & errr that liverpool bloke whos always depressed -allison would have been a great pundit & even better in the commentary box.Makes me laff today that radio 5 have over 3000 ex pros to choose from as a "pundit" & they chose robbie savage?!?!
Anyway -rest in peace malcolm.I still say you would have been the only 1 to shut bacon face up from his rabid rantings,Thanks for the memories sir,you are a legend....
